A Labour Market Needs Assessment led by the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview and Alberta Labour and Immigration is underway. The locally-focused study aims to foster a more competitive business environment in the region by assessing the local labour market, and identifying labour gaps and opportunities, as well as future job needs.
A summary of the results will be available to the public at the completion of the study.
Thank you to all the local employers, employees and job seekers who participated in our surveys, sharing your experiences around labour force strengths and challenges; strengths, gaps and opportunities for workforce skills and training; and more.
The Job Seeker & Employee Survey is gathering critical information, including factors making it difficult to find work; reasons for leaving or staying in a job; and factors that help gain and maintain meaningful employment. The Employer Survey seeks to better understand local labour force strengths and gaps, and also identify gaps and opportunities in skills, training, and workforce services.
The surveys were open to all businesses, employees and job seekers in the City and County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview, Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, Wembley, Fox Creek, Valleyview, Horse Lake First Nation, Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and Grande Cache Co-ops and Enterprises.
Job seekers and employees include people currently working, and those who are unemployed, consider themselves underemployed, or looking for their first job.
The surveys are now closed.
Survey responses are confidential and will be combined with other respondents' by our consultant McSweeney and Associates so that no one will be identified in the final report.
