Committees

Membership Committee -
The purpose of the committee is to support the Chamber in its efforts to recruit, retain, and provide value to its membership. The committee approves new members, evaluates current member services and partnerships, and identifies opportunities for new initiatives.The committee participates in, and provides support to Small Business Week and other Chamber activities.

Advocacy Committee -
Works to support the Chamber's efforts to identify issues and effectively express and represent the views of the business community on matters relevant to our area. Oftentimes, the Chamber is invited to offer opinion and feedback regarding all types of business issues. From legislation changes to meetings with municipal, provincial and federal politicians; the Chamber's staff and volunteers are on the ground working for the rights and interests of our members. The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce acts as a unified voice for business of all sizes and interests. Active locally, provincially and nationally, the Chamber is a truly independent advocacy organization. Our Chamber also partners in the highly-respected advocacy efforts of the Alberta and Canadian Chambers of Commerce to monitor pending legislation and regulation, and act on behalf of business to ensure the development and promotion of activities that ensure the Grande Prairie region's business community's continued growth and prosperity. 

Policy Committee -
A special committee of the board, which proposes Provincial & Federal Policies, and provides advice and direction to the Board of Directors on a continuing basis. The committee's purpose is to further advocacy issues through policy development and ongoing communication and participation with the Alberta Chamber & Canadian Chambers policy committees. Responsibilities of the committee include the research, development and presentation of Policy Resolutions to the Board. Issues are identified by the Advocacy Committee who provide direction to draft the policy. The Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce is active in policy development, both locally, and through the Alberta Chambers and Canadian Chambers of Commerce. Health Action Committee -
The Grande Prairie Health Action Committee was developed to address membership concerns regarding medical services, training, and infrastructure in our region. The Chamber was a part of organizing the Medical Student Training Symposium held in Grande Prairie in December of 2007 - shortly after which the Grande Prairie Chamber Health Action Committee was struck to support the Advocacy Committee in monitoring and advocating issues related to health-care. The committee is made up of Chamber & Medical representatives from across the region, including Alberta Health Services, Grande Prairie Regional College, Northern Alberta Development Committee, Peace Regional Economic Development Alliance, and Rural Family Medicine Program.
